Learnivore! beta feedback

User-provided ratings on screencasts ?
Ratings or thumbs-up could be useful to know which screencasts the user found interesting.
12 votesI’m wondering: wouldn’t it be better to just rely on delicious to provide that feature ? (ie: bookmarked would equal thumb-up ?).
I’m keen to “leverage existing infrastructure” whenever possible.
Thoughts ?

Separate RSS for free and paid items
Suggested by Kevin Radcliffe.
Would that be useful ?

Add the videos Confreaks makes at Ruby and Rails conventions
They regularly record a dozen or more videos at conferences every couple of months. That material would make excellent additions to the Learnivore material.
9 votesHi John,
I like the confreaks videos most of the time. I’ll get in touch with them to see if it’s possible to have them onboard.
thanks ! (and sorry for the late reply).

allow readers to submit links
There are many good screencasts out there that don't appear in the Learnivore feed. By allowing readers to submit links you would have a better chance of building up a more complete list of screencasts.

Different graphics or colors for paid and free items in the list
A couple of people have requested some visual cue to make it easier to distinguish paid and free screencasts in the result list.
Could be either a slightly different background, some icon...

Filter based on freshness
I'd find it useful to be able to keep only casts that match a given time criteria (eg: less than 3 months old, between 3 and 6 months old etc).

Perhaps add pluralsight?
Not sure if this fits with the site, but they regularly do free special shows, but generally charge to view them - http://www.pluralsight-training.net/microsoft/

Add http://technicasts.com/ from the creator of FOSScasts
http://technicasts.com/ is the new paid screencast site from the creator of FOSS casts
1 voteThanks for taking the time to add this suggestion – the good news is that it’s already planned :)
I’m just waiting for John Yerhot to finish a few things and go live officially – it will definitely be added to Learnivore.com!
cheers,
